On 11 December, Professor Philip McCann, University of Groningen and Special Adviser to Commissioner Creţu, will deliver a lecture with the following title: The Impacts of the Global Financial Crisis on EU Regions and Cities: Implications for the Challenges Faced by Cohesion Policy at DG Regional and Urban Policy.

The presentation by Prof. McCann will be followed by a response by an invited discussant, Professor Gunther Maier, Vienna University of Economics and Business, and by questions from the audience. The lecture will take place at the premises of the Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy (DG REGIO) on 11 December 2015 from 14:00 to 16:00.

Academics, staff from DG REGIO and other Commission services, other EU institutions as well as from the Member States' representations and regional offices are welcome to participate!

This lecture is part of a series of academic lectures organized by DG REGIO and the European Regional Science Association (ERSA) on key issues in regional and urban policy. The purpose of this lecture series is to discuss current research and evidence on the implementation of cohesion policy, also with a view to the preparatory work for the post-2020 period.

The lectures will be recorded and made available on both the Inforegio and ERSA websites.
