The main interest for Slovakia lies in the economic use of the River Danube, such as energy production and navigation as well as in the fields of research, innovation and competitiveness. Slovakia, together with Serbia coordinates the Priority Area "Knowledge Society" with important strategic initiatives such as the feasibility study for a Danube Region Research and Innovation Fund.
