IPA Regional Development Programmes in Turkey

IPA funds are implemented in Turkey through three multi-annual operational programmes:

  1. Environment Operational Programme (EOP). The programme objectives are to support the improvement of environment, specifically via investments in the area of water management cycle (both drinking and wastewater collection and treatment) and Solid Waste Management. EOP will also support the improvement of the capacity of the Operating Structure (Ministry of Environment and Forestry) to manage the programme via technical assistance.
  2. Transport Operational Programme (TOP). The programme objectives are to support the improvement of transport specifically targeting the investments in the area of Rail infrastructure and Ports. Similarly as in the previous OP, the improvement of the implementation capacity of the Operating Structure (Ministry of Transport) will be supported via technical assistance.
  3. Regional Competitiveness Operational Programme (RCOP). The programme objectives are to support convergence with the EU through increasing the competitiveness of the Turkish economy and reduction of regional socio-economic disparities with a special focus on lagging behind regions. RCOP will also provide technical assistance, to improve the capacity of the Operating Structure (Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology) and beneficiaries, to development and implement sound and mature projects.
