Interreg Annual Meeting, 26-28 April 2017
The Interreg Annual Meeting 2017 took place from 26 to 28 April in Malta and was organized by the European Commission, Directorate-General for Regional and Urban Policy, with the support of the Maltese presidency of the Council of the European Union. The meeting was organised in accordance with Article 51 of Regulation (EU) No 1303/2013 establishing for an annual meeting to review the performance of each programme. It also aimed at discussing with the Managing Authorities and the Joint Secretariats of all the Interreg programmes the most crucial topics related to their implementation.
The agenda of the meeting has been designed on the basis of the results of the online survey conducted from December 2016 to mid-January 2017 and to which all programmes were invited to contribute. The meeting satrted in the afternoon of 26 April. The opening plenary session discussed the state of play of implementation of the Interreg programmes and provided the opportunity to share first reflections on Interreg post-2020. The morning session of 27 April was devoted to four parallel workshops and followed by the visit of three projects implemented in Malta. The closing plenary session of 28 April morning focused on the presentation and discussion of the outcomes of the four workshops in the presence of a panel of key stakeholders.
This 2017 Annual Meeting was prepared in a participatory manner, involving "Advisory Groups" composed of the Interreg programmes who responded favourably to our call for programmes representatives to play an active role in the preparation of the four workshops and provide an input on the meeting agenda, prior to its submission to the programmes' vote.
