Programme description

Main Objectives

The objective of this multi-fund ERDF/ESF Operational Programme (OP) is to increase the competitiveness of the region’s economy based on the regional strengths and assets.

Funding priorities:

The ERDF contribution will focus on the following main priorities:

  • increasing R&D activities of enterprises and increased use of R&D results in the Polish economy (TO1);
  • increased use of e-services (TO2);
  • increased innovativeness of the SME sector (TO3);
  • increased energy efficiency in public buildings and lower emissions (TO4);
  • better prevention of natural disasters and protection of the environment (TO5 and TO6)
  • economic and social regeneration of deprived areas and increased access to health services (TO9);
  • improving transport accessibility of the region and its main labour markets (TO7);
  • improved human capital for the economy (TO8-10).

Expected impact:

The main expected results are among others:

  • an increase of private R&D spending to 0.85%;
  • Increased exports of the SME sector (40% increase compared to 2011);
  • Increase theshare ofelectricity productionfrom renewable energy sourcesin the total electricity productionfrom7,7% to 15%;
  • Better air quality in cities by lowering emissions of pollutants to acceptable levels;
  • Doubling the percentage ofmunicipal waste collectedselectively to 22,5%;
  • a decrease in the number of beneficiaries of social welfare schemes in deprived areas;
  • Shorter average stay in psychiatric hospitals and a shift to ambulatory care;
  • Supportto more than 24,000 unemployed(including thelong-term unemployed) in their search for a job;
  • Support to more than 40,000students to develop key competencies.
