Operational Programme 'Central Moravia'
Programme under the Convergence objective, co-funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF)
The European Commission approved on 3 December 2007 a regional operational programme in the Czech Republic for the period 2007-2013, entitled the Regional Operational Programme "Central Moravia". This programme involves Community support for this region within the framework of "Convergence" objective. The total budget of the programme is around EUR 773 million and the Community investment through the ERDF amounts to EUR 657 million.
1.The purpose and aim of the EU investment
The overall objective consists in supporting the economic, social, territorially balanced and sustainable development of the Central Moravia region, according to its specific needs and resources, focusing on transport infrastructure, urban growth poles, improving the business environment and social and health care infrastructure. The Central Moravia region could become more attractive places where to live, invest and work.
This objective will be achieved in close coordination with the actions implemented by other operational programmes at the national level.
2. The expected impact of the investment
The programme is expected to reduce the unemployment rate by two percentage points; 14 km of new roads will be constructed and 118 km will be renovated. The number of inhabitants served by public transport should rise by 240 000.
The principal objectives of the Regional Operational Programme Central Moravia programme are to increase overall economic maturity of the region, to improve competitiveness of the region and living standard of its inhabitants. The Regional Operational Programme Central Moravia is structured according to the following priorities:
Priority 1: Transport
The main objective of this priority is to ensure efficient, flexible and safe transport infrastructure in the Central Moravia Cohesion Region and reliable, and integrated public transport services of high quality. Transport infrastructure inside the region shall be linked to national and TEN transport network by means of modernization of regional network of 2nd and 3rd class roads. Public transport services shall be improved by modernization and integration of particular types of transport.
Priority 2: Integrated development and regeneration of the region
The specific objective of the priority is to improve the quality of life in the Central Moravia Cohesion Region, improvement of the attractiveness of regional centres, towns and villages, provision of quality and accessible social services and favourable supporting conditions for enterprise.
Priority 3: Tourism
The objective of this priority is to improve the attractiveness of the Central Moravia Cohesion Region for the purposes of tourism by improving its infrastructure, services, awareness of it, and promotion.
Priority 4: Technical assistance
There is also provision for technical assistance in order to implement the programme. Financial support is available covering administration, monitoring and control.
