(03/05/2012) All regional and local administrations, institutions or organisations can propose to organise local events in the framework of the OPEN DAYS 2012. The local events must be linked to the OPEN DAYS thematic priorities. They can be organised in conjunction with the launch of European regional policy's projects or in the framework of annual information actions which are required by the Structural Funds' regulations. (18/04/2012) The Directorate-General for Regional Policy, European Commission, and the Regional Studies Association invite early career researchers in European regional policy to present their research in the form of a poster at OPEN DAYS 2012, the European Week of Cities and Regions (8th-11th - October). The overall winner will get €750 and the first runner-up will get €250. - More Information |

(03/04/2012) Grouped in 24 regional partnerships, the 219 applicants include 50 cities, with 21 capital cities or regions, and 169 regions representing the variety of subnational authorities and constituencies in Europe (cantons, counties, comunidades, départements, districts, diputaciónes, Länder, Län, municipalities and provinces). In the 10-years’ history of the event, this is one of the highest numbers. - List by partnerships (pdf) - List by country (pdf) - The country with most participating regions and cities is France (28), followed by Poland and Spain (20 each), Italy (18), Germany (13), the Netherlands and the United Kingdom (12 each). 25 out of the 27 EU member states applied (missing: Greece and Lithuania). Five candidate countries (Croatia, the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia, Montenegro, Serbia, Turkey), one potential candidate country (Bosnia-Herzegovina) and two third countries (Norway, Switzerland) also applied. |

(03/04/2012) Out of 65 received applications for the Meeting Place, 36 were selected. Among the selected event partners are relevant European Commission Directorate-Generals (AGRI, MARE, EMPL, CLIMA and REGIO), individual regions, European networks and associations. With a focus this year on community-led local development, the Meeting Place at the Committee of the Regions will host to a third of the OPEN DAYS 2012 programme of workshops and debates. - Selected partners (pdf) - More - |
