OPEN DAYS 2010: Kick-Off Meeting

The Committee of the Regions and the European Commission's Regional Policy DG organise a kick-off meeting to launch the OPEN DAYS 2010 on Friday 11 December 2009, at 11:30 in the Committee of the Regions, Rue Belliard 101, Brussels (Room JDE 51, 5th floor).

 

On the agenda: 

  • Welcome addresses by Gerhard Stahl, Secretary-General, Committee of the Regions, and Dirk Ahner, Director-General, European Commission Regional Policy  DG 
  • Presentation of the OPEN DAYS (4-7 October) 2010:  Key themes and conditions of participation
  • Questions and answers

All regions and cities, associations and major private companies interested in the OPEN DAYS 2010 are welcome. Please register beforehand by email (including your full contact details) sent to opendays@cor.europa.eu before 8 December 2009.

With more than 6,000 participants from around 40 countries, including all the EU member states, the candidate countries and Brazil, China, Iceland, Japan, Russia, Ukraine and the U.S.A., the OPEN DAYS - European Week of Regions and Cities 2009 - brought together politicians, practitioners, academics and representatives from businesses, banks and civil society organisations for exchange and networking on local and regional issues.

Under the overall theme of 'Global challenges, European responses', debates focused on regional responses to the economic crisis and to climate change.
