IPA Transportation Operational Programme in Croatia

Transportation  Operational Programme supports activities directed towards:

  • Transport infrastructure development, concerning in particular the interconnection and interoperability of national networks and with the trans-European networks; and
  • Technical assistance for the preparation of studies and technical support related to eligible activities, including those necessary for implementation. Also, technical assistance for preparatory, management, monitoring, evaluation, information and control activities, as well as reinforcing the administrative capacity for implementing IPA.

1. Priorities and measures

Priority 1: Upgrading Croatia's rail transport system (EC contribution: € 47,110,500)
The priority axis aims to gradually improve the standard of Croatian railways, in particular the line along TEN Corridor X within Croatia, so that they increasingly meet EU requirements.

Priority 2: Upgrading Croatia's inland waterway system (EC contribution: €5,625,000)
This priority axis aims to rehabilitate the Sava river waterway to category IV navigational status, including its alignment with the EU River Information System (RIS).

Priority 3: Technical Assistance (EC contribution: €765,000)
This priority axis aims to ensure a sound and efficient management and implementation of the programme, by improving the administrative capacity of the institutions concerned in all the relevant areas. It will also be used to prepare projects for subsequent programmes.
