Second European Cohesion ForumSecond European Cohesion Forum
Documents, speeches and report

The results of the Cohesion Policy being implemented since 1989 and its future in an enlarged Union have been debated by more than 1,500 policy makers and economic and social actors from Member States and the applicant countries on 21 and 22 May 2001, at a forum sponsored by the European Commission in Brussels.

Participants made an effort to answer the 10 questions put to them by the Commission as a framework for their debate. They have been given fact sheets on each of the questions containing observations and raising related sub-questions.

The fact sheets are reproduced in the following file :

Many of the speeches and interventions by participants are available on this page.

In his concluding remarks, Commissioner Barnier welcomed the intensity of the debates, which demonstrated that a large measure of consensus has been built on the analyses and proposals of the Second Cohesion Report, presented by the Commission on 31January 2001 last.
