8 November 2010 - The Danube Summit in Bucharest

This event was a positive signal and an important step, 30 days before the adoption of the Communication and of the Action Plan of the EUSDR by the European Commission.

In the Parliament Palace of Bucharest, the European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, the Romanian President Traian Băsescu and the Prime Minister Emil Boc opened the summit of the countries of the Danube Region.

President Barroso underlined the unique opportunity offered by the EUSDR to reinforce the common identity of the region, to increase commercial, administrative and cultural exchanges between the countries, to stimulate and help countries to work together for a better future and to open new doors to the non member states

Prime Minister Emil Boc added that a strong political support was needed to launch and achieve  projects about connectivity problematic in the transport and energy, about protection of the environment, about water resources and enlarged risk management.

In the course of the Summit, the Heads of State and Government of the Danube Region signed a
