The seminar "Improving policy coherence on the ground" is the third one dedicated to specific dimensions of territorial cohesion. A first seminar took place on 25 September 2009 on "Territorial cooperation and cohesion" and a second on 12 March 2010 on "Geographic scales of policy intervention".
These 3 seminars have been organised in the framework of the Sub-Committee of the Committee for the Coordination of the Funds, dealing with Territorial Cohesion and Urban Matters (TCUM), gathering experts from all EU Member States. This seminar is jointly organized with the newly launched Inter-Service Group on Territorial Cohesion, which involves all Directorates-General concerned.
Territorial cohesion is served by territorially consistent public policies. The aim of the seminar is to discuss - from a territorial point of view – policy coherence: coordination shortcomings, best practice, instruments (e.g. territorial impact assessment).
The seminar will consist of:
The participants will be: usual national experts of TCUM; representatives of various Commission DGs; stakeholders and European networks;; EU Institutions (Committee of the Regions, European Parliament, Economic and Social Committee); in total: approximately 120 participants from across the European Union are invited.
