EU Structural Funds 2014-2020 : Promoting Innovation Through Smart Specialisation
7-8 May 2012, in Riga
Organised by the European Commission's Directorate General for Regional Policy, the Joint Research Centre in Sevilla and the Latvian Ministry of Finance.
Innovation is key to staying competitive in a rapidly changing world. Innovation is important for all regions. Europe's competitiveness, its capacity to create new jobs, its social fabric and cohesion, and, overall, our future standard of living depend on the ability to drive innovation in products, services, businesses and organisations.
Smart specialisation will be instrumental in helping Europe's regions concentrate resources on strategic priorities and design the right policy mix to unleash smart growth. To concentrate resources on areas of comparative advantage is not only a question of more coherence and impact of EU action, it is also vital in times of budgetary restraint.
The conference aims to present the concept of smart specialisation and how this can be implemented and help Baltic States to reach their full innovation potential. Regions and experts are invited to share their experience within the Baltic Sea Area.
During the conference you will have the opportunity to discuss future R&D+I strategies with experts, Commission representatives as well as participants from other Baltic Sea Regions.
The conference will be held in English.
Venue: Radisson Blu Hotel Latvija, Elizabetes 55
