The focus of the event is the role of the managing and paying authorities as well as the winding-up bodies in the closure of Structural Funds 2000-2006 programmes and is being organised jointly by the Commission's Directorates-Generals for Agriculture and Rural Development, Employment, Social Affairs and Equal Opportunities, Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and Regional Policy.
The objectives of the seminar are to highlight the crucial role of these authorities and bodies in the preparation for the closure of Structural Funds 2000-2006 assistance and to establish a common understanding of the key elements of a successful closure process. The event is intended to provide both general information with the help of the Structural Funds Closure Guidelines and somewhat more technical information on the basis of questions received from the Member States so far. The provisional programme for the seminar is attached.
This will be a major event involving about 650 representatives from the national and regional authorities of all Member States and the Commission.
