Interreg V-A - Slovenia-Hungary

Programme description

Main objectives

The programme promotes the better usage of under-exploited natural and cultural values through cooperation in tourism, being the Region’s key competitive, labour-intensive sector. It will support joint cross-border initiatives in the field of sustainable tourism development with a focus on rural areas, with natural and cultural heritage preservation and protection as its very basis. This approach provides a good basis for the economic and social integration of rural areas into “slow tourism”.

Additionally, the programme will support cooperation between public administration bodies to tackle common societal challenges such as ageing, poverty, migration. Cooperation will also happen in the area of social and health care services, environmental protection, and the harmonization of labour market needs with education and vocational training. A special focus is put on youth and disadvantaged groups.
