Programme description

Main objectives

The ERDF-ESF Programme of Champagne-Ardenne aims to boost economic growth, create jobs, improve productivity of SMEs and contribute to achieving the Europe 2020 targets for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth. In particular public and private investments in research will increase by 8% and 9% respectively. Through the foreseen support SMEs within the region are expected to become more competitive and thereby to increase exports by 18% before 2020. Almost one fifth of the ERDF budget will be allocated to interventions related to climate change and risk prevention. With ESF support improved training systems will be funded increase jobseekers' qualification in accordance with the requirements of the job market.

Funding priorities

The Programme will focus on following main priorities:

  • Increase research and innovation
  • Strengthen access to ICTs
  • Improve SMEs' competitiveness
  • Enhance energy and resource efficiency
  • Preserve biodiversity
  • Adapt and prevent climate change
  • Integrate into the labour market young people, in particular those not in employment, education or training, including young people at risk of social exclusion and those from marginalised communities
  • Enhance lifelong learning for all age groups, promote flexible learning pathways including through career guidance and validation of acquired competences
  • Improving the labour market relevance of education and training systems
  • Encourage sustainable integrated urban development

Expected impacts

  • Increase public and private research investments by respectively by 8 and 9%;
  • Increase of the share of exports in the totalturnover of SMEs 18%
  • Consolidate of the employment
  • Increase the number of enterprises using "fiber to the home pro"
  • increase energy efficiency in private and public social housing reducing by 15% the number of buildings with a very high level of energy consumption
  • Increase the share of the population covered by flood protectionmeasures against floods
  • Decrease the number of NEET (Not in Education Employment or Training)
  • Increase participation of young and older people, job seekers and other disadvantaged people in education/training programmes leading to a qualification, an apprenticeship, trainingship or a job
  • Improve training systems in order to increase job seekers' qualification towards sustainable employability
