Andras Liker, a research grant beneficiary supported in the context of the Sexual Selection project, has given the answer to gender role reversal, a big mystery for evolutionary biologists.
He believes that shorebirds switch traditional gender roles when females are a minority in the flock.
He and his team have also found out that while males carry out parental duties, females compete with each other for males.
