Researchers develop algae fuel

Researchers develop algae fuel

An EU-funded project managed by the REA, Mabfuel, is developing techniques for algae farming and harvesting, and exploring possibilities to reduce the costs of oil extraction to produce low-cost biodiesel.

Algae is easy to farm, it does not require any fertilizers and grows very quickly. It also has a positive impact on the environment, as it improves air quality by absorbing CO2.

Cheaper eco-friendly algae fuel could revolutionalise the biofuel industry.
