Intelligent beds for EU hospitals

A Spanish company designs smart hospital beds 'reading' patients' movement intentions

A Spanish-based company has developed an adjustable hospital bed that interprets patients' intentions and helps them move without assistance.

By responding to changes in body pressure, the bed eliminates bedsores and other problems linked to staying in the same position for extended periods.

The new adjustable bed technology is now being further tested with a view to bringing it to market in 2013.

The research projects behind it, EPOSBED and EPOSBED-DEMO , have been supported by a total amount of over €2 million in EU funds.
