Making water rich in arsenic drinkable

EU-funded researchers prove that water rich in arsenic, a poisonous chemical, may be drinkable

Water rich in arsenic, a health-threatening chemical found in ground water in many European countries, may be drinkable, an EU-funded research project managed by the REA has shown.

The AquAsZero project has developed a highly innovative, cost-effective solution: a product made up of little granules which are able to absorb arsenic traces and make water suitable for human consumption.

The project received the first "Greece Innovates" prize in 2011.
