Like a snapshot, Europe and you in 2008 provides a glimpse of the wider reality; a quick and simple view of some of the things the EU has done during the year 2008.
It offers examples of where the European Union is making a real difference to the lives of its citizens and of people far beyond. From ensuring that Europe will have energy supplies way into the future to improving working conditions and reinforcing product safety and individual health, the EU is working on policies and practices that have a direct impact on the way we all live.
In the run-up to the European Parliament elections in June 2009, the role of the EU will be even more in the spotlight. Each and every one of us will be given the opportunity to decide how we want to shape Europe. What really counts is what the EU is doing, and what it delivers. And the intention behind all this activity is the same: to make Europe, and the world it is a part of, a better place.
