Results of %C3Continuous Tracking%C3 surveys of the European Union  (September 1996 to January 1997)

When asked about their personal economic situation, over the next twelve months, 23% of Europeans think that it will be better, 22% expect that it will not be as good. 

For Europeans, %C3the fight against unemployment%C3 (34%), remains the objective for the European Union to tackle, within the perspective of the IGC.

Two-thirds of Europeans (66%) wish to see the European Parliament play a more important role.

At the start of the European Year Against Racism, more than six out of ten Europeans think that people coming from countries south of the Mediterranean or from countries of Central and Eastern Europe should be admitted, but with certain restrictions.
