On 29 November 2017 the Centre of Excellence on Interactive Media, Smart Systems & Emerging Technologies (RISE) was officially inaugurated in Cyprus as the 11th Teaming Phase 2 project by Mr. Robert-Jan Smits, Director General of DG Research and Innovation, and Mr. Constantinos Yiorkadjis, Mayor of Nicosia. The RISE project is coordinated by the Nicosia Municipality and cooperates closely with its advanced partners University College London (UK) and Max Planck (DE). It is designed to empower knowledge and technology transfer in the region. It will act as an integrator of academic research and industrial innovation to fuel scientific, technological and economic growth of Cyprus and Europe.
