Bathroom material beats solid wood and wood-based panels

A long-lasting and cheap alternative to wood for use in bathroom furniture could be on sale soon, thanks to an EU-funded project that has developed an economic rival to imported materials.

The wood-plastic composite produced by the LIMOWOOD project can replace wood of similar density, but has better mechanical properties and resistance to moisture and mould. It also performs better than cheap and light wood-based fibreboard panels. The product can be given various finishes, such as natural wood or decorative films.
