Title: Euroscepticism: testing the feelings of the European Citizens
Summary
The project promoted by the municipality of Giardini Naxos (IT), is a Town Twinning between municipalities and Organizations from Italy, Spain, Greece, Poland and Malta.The project, titled “Euroscepticism: testing the feelings of the European Citizens, will be held in Giardini Naxos from 20th to 26th April 2017. In line with the general objectives of the Europe for Citizens programme and in according with the annual priorities, the main thematic of the project are focused on understanding and debating Euroscepticism by the point of view of citizens, in especially way now that it has become a reality that requires further examination, debate and understanding. By mobilizing citizens to debate concrete issues on the European political agenda, the town twinning will seek to promote participation and develop opportunities for civic engagement at local and EU levels. The planned activities are aimed at raising awareness about the Citizen’s engagement as essential to the development of a European identity, in order to remove the obstacles for the construction of a Europe united and cohesive. In the work programme are scheduled different activities using new and innovative working methods, such as meeting, workshop, public debate, seminar, exchanges of best practices, discussions and comparison, Intercultural evenings, cultural visits and other activities that will be opportunities for communication, including different target group and the most relevant stakeholders, local authorities and civil society organisations, by promoting intercultural dialogue, knowledge and values, constructive comparison of views and mutual enrichment. Moreover the sign of brotherhood oath will be an occasion to create a long lasting cooperation and a solid friendship and to assure that the citizens will feel more European. Therefore, participants will be encouraged to exchange opinions and best practices with the aim to formulate new ideas and concrete future proposals.
