Identifier: 563112-CITIZ-1-2015-1-HR-CITIZ-REMEM
Title: Festival of Tolerance
Summary
The society is riddled with tension and is in danger of an explosion of right wing extremism. FoT is an important public platform which, with each year, is visited by more people and clearly reminds every one of the terrors of the Holocaust: It should not be forgotten! And it mustn't happen ever again! Festival programs are organized with the aim to prevent discrimination, racism, homophobia, xenophobia and general violations of the rights of minority groups, striving towards a developed European society. FoT’s targets are primarily young people that can still be influenced to start changing society and not delve in the depths of chauvinism, xenophobia and prejudice. Project is based on: Holocaust themed thought-provoking exhibitions – selection that focuses on victims, minorities and disabled, affected by Nazi regime; Lectures – select talks of the Holocaust survivors, experts on the topic, invoking remembrance and stopping the prejudice; Panel discussions – professionals discuss topics of Holocaust, aimed at including legislative bodies, as well as general public; Workshops and tenders, involving various European professionals, who incite people to act and spread the word further; all organized across 4 countries.FoT’s forte is also a select choice of lecturers and people affiliated with organization, such as Holocaust survivor, double Oscar winner, Mr. Branko Lustig, one of the co-founders of the Shoah Foundation, with Steven Spielberg, Mirko Ilić, renowned designer, owner of the Anti-Semitic posters exhibition, who saved it from destruction.Including marginalized groups such as disadvantaged, Roma and other minorities into the program, FoT serves as a platform unique in the area, and strives toward spreading the good practice deeper into the region, encouraging debate and reflection. This society needs projects like FoT, to raise awareness of the people, get them to think critically and prevent atrocities that whole Europe still remembers from the WW2.
