Programme: Europe for Citizens
Identifier: 601721-CITIZ-1-2018-1-HR-CITIZ-TT
Title: Promoting Social ENTREpreneurship in EUropean communities (ENTRE-EU)
Summary
The project focuses on education, employment & civil society and promotes social entrepreneurship/enterprise as a means to bring citizens together, promote EU values (intercultural dialogue, solidarity, volunteering) & addresses regional issues. It targets citizens incl. youth, students (high school & university), and representatives of CSOs, SMEs & cities/towns. In the countries involved (Croatia, Slovenia), citizens are unaware of EU policy agendas & values; how they contribute to employment & strengthening civil society; and how to take actions to enhance the community. Social enterprise is a concept that is promoted in the Agenda for new skills and jobs and has been used throughout the EU. It effectively brings citizens together to address regional issues, creates positive change & promotes sustainability. It is in its initial phases in HR & Sl, and citizens are unaware how it works. For the partners, social enterprise is a stimulus for new skills and jobs, while at the same time it's a way to create positive changes that benefit citizens. With this in mind, the project's aims are to increase citizen involvement in local & European initiatives that promote social enterprise and to improve cooperation between cities/towns in developing actions that promote social entrepreneurship regionally. To achieve the aims, the project is organized as a 3-day event (for 140 participants) w/ 2 workshops, panel discussion, press conference, best practice presentations & European quiz (pilot). Through group work, example/scenario-based learning and other activities, citizens will form new ties and create actions re: social enterprise (outcomes). Pre-event seminars & meetings b/w partners ensure that citizen inputs are included & activities are refined to stakeholders' needs. To build on results, the partners will analyze the event's outcomes and create a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) re: long-term cooperation on education, employment, civil society & social enterprise.
