Title: Pathways to belonging: From interculturAL dialogue to sociaL INclusion
Summary
Migration is one of the oldest human trends, which shaped countries, societies and national identities. Recent migrant waves shows that when people migrate, they take their culture with them and try to integrate it into new local environment. This causes changes in already shaped and established society or nation on the one side, but on the other side new wave of multiculturalism has featured sharp polarization over migration issues in public debates jointly with intolerance, xenophobia and disrespect for human rights. The project will raise the awareness that migrations are not a new phenomena. 8 project partners from Slovenia, Kosovo*, Poland, Italy, Cyprus, Montenegro and Greece will organise 7 events of strong transnational character. Target groups (European Citizens, migrants, foreigners, ethnic groups, stakeholders, authorities, etc.) will have a chance to participate in project activities – debates, panels, workshops, exchange of know how, good practices visits – and foster the awareness of importance of intercultural dialogue, voluntary work, tolerance, respect of cultural differences and human rights. Beside an effective dissemination through social channels, media and among citizens through meetings and their activities, the biggest advantage is sharing results in blog that will have three chapters:- good practices from projects meetings- migration stories Faces of migration (collected by each partner)- food recipes as a tool to bring a piece of foreign culture to every single household, a barrier breaker which enables to include different culture into people’s everyday. The main purpose of the stories is to influence one’s emotions, because people can usually relate to personal stories which make them think, rather than to statistics, which leaves our memory quite fast.Blog will also serve us as a base for pdf brochure as the final result of the project. Brochure and blog will be alive and available online even after the project end.
