Title:
Old and New Europe meets to discuss the future of EU Citizens
Summary
General objective of the project is to encourage democratic and civic participation of citizens at Union level by improving their understading of policy making process and developing sense of belonging to the European Community. The project's specfic aim is to raise constructive debate of associations regarding their importance and opportunities of contibution to the improved quality of life of their local community thus ensuring the better future for the entire EU.Project participants will be able to give perspective, exchange experiences and create conclucions regarding the topics of self employment of rural women as a means to mitigate effects of onging economic recession and lack of workplaces for women over 40 years of age; opportunites provided by social entrepreneurship in the context of making and presenting traditional products and role of this products in creating visual identity of the community. Partners agree of the wide perspective they can provide: Italy, which is an "old" EU member state, Slovenia with 10 years of membership and Croatia as a new member state can provide relevant overview of EU citizenship through different eras of EU development i.e what changed through time and what actions can be taken for citizens to continue adopting EU values and principles. One way to do this is to continue strenghtenting the civil sector through enabling cooperation with their peers abroad and raising avarenes on benefits of volunteering as well.Due to the fact that majority of association members active in culture preservation are also women, equal participation and opportunities will be promoted through the whole project. Future cooperation will be assured via twinning agreements which will be signed at the end of this event. This will ensure future cooperation between partners and define priorities for future projects. During this event, a press conference will be organized in order to promote project activities and the EU contribution.
