Summary
Meeting of citizens will last in total of five days in September 2015. and will include 45 participants from Municipality of Gevgelija (FYR Macedonia), and the same number of citizens from Pazin. Participants invited will be representives of the Municipality, entrepreneurs, members of cultural organizations (volunteers from folklore and other cultural groups), young active citizens from youth organizations and other volunteers of different civil society organizations active in the local community. During the visit, they will meet officials from the City of Pazin and local institutions such as schools, volunteers from different civil society organizations, and entrepreneurs. They will discuss common issues, sharing experience and knowledge. Some of the topics of the citizen’ meetings will be: - Cooperation between local self-government and NGO’s and role of volunteer engagement in the life of local community; - Participation of citizens (especially youth) in decision making process; - Cultural heritage – differences and similarities, role of cultural associations and institutions in life of local community and using of cultural resources in development of local tourism;- Economy - role of SME’s in local development and cooperation between entrepreneurs.Aims: to help both towns to feel part of a whole and share more activities in the future. By allowing people to experience the daily life of others, to debate and discuss important issues, and to discover culture of their partner, this visit will help citizens to understand that they belong to one community of values and intensify the relationship and the exchanges between the citizens. Exchange of experience as well as joint reflection on specific issues can help find solutions or bring improvements with the main aim to support the inter-cultural and social interaction of the two communities in Europe. All off the project activities will be presented to the local media and spotlighted on social networks.
