Title: Zaangazowanie i uczestnictwo obywateli w ksztaltowaniu obszarow NATURA 2000 w ich regionie lub panstwie
Summary
The aim of this international meeting of 9 twin towns from 8 member states of the EU is to strengthen the ties between the EU members through the debate, exchanging points of view, opinions and experiences on the subject of NATURA 2000. The representatives from each commune will give two presentations on the topic ‘Citizens’ Involvement and Participation in the Creation of NATURA 2000 Areas in their Region or Country’. The Twin Town meeting in Kościelisko will be held from 2 till 6 September 2015. The seminars will take place on Thursday and Saturday; they will provide an opportunity to express opinions on NATURA 2000 areas and share experiences from participants’ countries or regions. In addition, there will be meetings with experts on environmental protection which will help to deepen participants’ knowledge in this issue. Friday will be devoted to an E.U. lesson on the topic of social responsibility for shaping policies at a European level. Young participants will ask and answer questions on the E.U, find evidence of E.U activities in their place of residence, discuss the greatest E.U. achievements, find out what the E.U. political priorities regarding the young are and analyze the opportunities which the E.U. provides for the youth. At the end of the lesson the participants will make European commitments. Furthermore, participants will meet members of local government and politicians involved in European activities and will be able to talk to them and ask questions. All the participants will get familiarized with the history, culture and traditions of Poland through excursions and cultural events. Most workshops will be held the Communal Centre of Local Culture in Kościelisko while the official Twin Town partners will include Tatra National Park, Regional Office of Environmental Protection in Krakow, Youth and Local Government Information Centre at EURODESK Poland in Krakow. We also intend to invite the Members of E.U. Parliament to our festival.
