EUlife - Citizens for Stronger Europe
Summary
The project "EU life - Citizens for Stronger Europe" was held from 29th of September till 1st of October 2017, in town Klanjec. It included participants from Klanjec and participants from 6 partner organizations from 5 European countries: Poland - Wilamowice, Slovakia - Rajecke Teplice, Czech Republic - Dolny Benešov, Slovenia - Občina Starše, Slovenia - Mladinsko udruženje Bistrica ob Sotli and Serbia - HKPD Petrovaradin. Project activities revolved aroud Euroscepticism and Future of EU.Project was realized during the same time as cultural-touristic manifestation of Klanjec so another guests participated in project activities - the group from Bihać, BiH who performed on manifestation but they expressed great interest in participating in project activities which are opened for public so they were welcomed. BiH is not an EU member state, guest that participated in activities were interested in hearing different opinions on EU.Project was carried out by lots of volunteers and with help of towns associations of citizens.Main theme of event was Euroscepticism and during three days debates, discussions, workshops, seminars have been organized with participation of citizens of Croatia, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Serbia and Bosnia all different age, gender, education. They were exchanging opinions and attitudes about this topic. Through seminars and debates participants learned about euroscepticism, they talked about possible reasons for increase of euroscepticism in some state members of EU, especially in those that are partners in this project. There was a talk about how last migration crisis and EU reaction to it have affected the increase of eurosceptic citizens and they highlighted that euroscepticism can be turned into initiator of changes in the future of EU.Alongside the discussion about euroscepticism there was a talk about EU strategy 2020, partners in programme presented positive examples of being part of EU and policy implementation in development of local communities, and also examples of good practices from Europe for Citizens Programme have been demonstrated.Younger participants were involved in the process of making the website „eulifeproject.com“. This website is set online and it is point where informations and pictures of all former projects can be found. Also, there are informations and contacts about project partners and about Programe Europe for Citizens. The website is promoting Europe for Citizens and longtime partnership between european countries/cities/citizens.Attention was put also on intercultural dialogue so in the evenings participants got opportunity to show their cultural diversity through music and dance. International cooking show was organized to promote different gastronomic skills of participants countries.Project Građani za snažniju Europu / EUlife – Citizens for Stronger Europe was promoting and supporting intercultural dialogue, acceptance of differences in attitudes towards EU policies (in this case euroscepticism), and originate sense of solidarity and togetherness amongst citizens of EU.
