Title: Balkan kaleidoscope
Summary
TThe project aims to raise awareness of remembrance underlining the role and importance of the EU to promoting peace while bringing the memories and experiences from the recent past. It is of particular importance in the context of emerging nationalistic ideas, growing populism and support to right-wing parties and leaders. The activities are designed to stimulate, widen and enrich the scope of approaches of learning from the history approaches that are made available for today’s young people specifically targeting teachers and formal and non-formal educational institutions. At the same time, entire project is oriented towards building common future European perspective and solidarity through enhancing the space for inter-cultural and inter-generational encounters. It, particularly, commemorates the beginning of the Yugoslav Wars in 1991, through building a shared space for interaction between the contemporary young generation and the people who witnessed the outbreak and passed through the experience of beginning of the war conflicts in the then country. Learning multiperspectivity approach through individual narrative and being able to build ones’ own comprehension beyond ethnic/cultural boundaries has become, maybe more than ever, important for understanding the lessons from history for being able to better understand the future. The project is exploring the past, but even more oriented towards building the perspective for peace, stability and prosperity in Europe through exposing the young people to a specific learning experience through which they will be able to collect, explore, study and present the life experience of those who witnessed the outbreak of the war in former Yugoslavia.
