    This programme was written to be shared with Department of Education and Skills funded providers who are registered with FETAC and wish to offer certification to their learners in a Level 6 FETAC Advanced Certificate in Early Childhood Care and Education 6M2007. The overall aim of the programme is to provide the learner with the opportunity to acquire the knowledge, skill and competence to work as an autonomous practitioner and or take responsibility for the work of others in leading and coordinating the provision of a quality early childhood care and education environment which promotes children's well-being, development and learning. This award will provide learners with opportunities to transfer and progress to programmes leading to higher education and training awards. There are 16 programme modules in this programme. Upon successful completion of a minimum of 8 programme modules the learner may achieve the required 120 credits for a level 6 FETAC major award. The programme may be offered to the learner on a full time or a part time basis and has been designed to be sufficiently flexible so that it may meet the needs of the learner who accesses programmes through many different avenues of the [Named Provider].   2. Hairdressing and Beauty Care

    The Hairdressing and Beauty Care programme was written by Cavan Institute for the sole use by the Institute in offering certification to its learners in a level 5 FETAC certificate in Hairdressing 5M3351. The overall aim of the programme is to provide the learner with the opportunity to develop the required knowledge, skills and competence in hairdressing in order to meet the standards set by the awarding body in the award specification for Hairdressing level 5. The objectives of this programme are as follows: • To enable the learner to explore hairdressing with a view to reskilling or upskilling and exploring concepts and subject areas that may interest the learner in future programmes or employment • To equip the learner with a broad range of theoretical knowledge and skills necessary to work in the hairdressing and/or beauty care sectors • To enable the learner to demonstrate a range of practical hairdressing and beauty care techniques which are required by clients in variety of contexts and in line with best practice within the industry and based on client requirements There are 9 modules in this programme.   9. Bridge To Education

    The programme is designed to equip learners with knowledge, skills and competencies, as well as build their confidence in order to prepare to fully participate and benefit from future further or higher education experience. Its aim is to enhance learners’ academic, personal and professional skills and qualities necessary to access and effectively engage in further academic learning; to develop and sustain their interest in further and higher education, as well as to enable them to develop their personal and academic potential to the full extent. Deliberate effort has been made when selecting modules to ensure that a wide spectrum of skills are covered and reinforced, and acquired competencies complement each other. The programme will have a strong practical element, and learners will have extensive opportunities to implement the skills and competencies learnt both in the classroom and outside of it. The programme will be offered on part-time basis over the period of 3 months. It is designed to lead to three FETAC Level 5 Component Certificates listed above.
