6th conference in Maritime Spatial Planning Worldwide (MSP), University of the Azores, Ponte Delgada, Azores, 23-24 June 2016

(18/03/2016) The sixth conference of the MSP stakeholder series, focussing on MSP Worldwide will be organised on 23-24 June 2016 by DG MARE in University of the Azores, Ponte Delgada, Azores.

The conference will present experiences, opportunities and challenges of MSP implementation around the world. In particular it will look at MSP's economic benefits, its potential as a climate adaptation tool as well as at the role of area-based management regimes in international waters. The main purpose is to take stock of what is being done at international level and identify potential synergies with EU MSP.

  • 16/03/2016 - Promoting educational activities on aquaculture

    In the framework of the communication campaign "FARMEDintheEU" launched in 2014, the European Commission is meeting representatives from education networks and aquaculture producers to disseminate the school-kit designed for teachers. A first event was organized at the Gruene Woche in Berlin 18 January, a second at Salon International de l'Agriculture in Paris on 3 March.

    Encouraged by the success of its conservation actions in the North-East Atlantic, where more and more stocks are being fished sustainably, the Commission is now turning its attention to the Mediterranean Sea, where fisheries are declining despite the efforts made by both regulators and fishermen.
