Have your say on the future EU microplastics initiative (15/04/2022)

Ahead of future legislation, the European Commission has launched a public consultation to explore the problem of unintentionally released microplastics from tyres, textiles, and plastic pellets on the environment. The ETV community is encouraged to contribute.

A New ETV Verified Solution to Recycle Waste for Reuse Within Steel-making Plants (15/04/2022)

Recently verified technology ReStOre is a circular economy solution for recycling waste within steel-making plants. Developed by the Italian company, Deref S.p.a. (DEmolizione REFrattari), the ReStOre system converts low-value refractory waste into high-value re-usable products, turning waste into a resource, with economic and environmental benefits.

ETV verifies new tech that uses renewable power to turn CO2 into gas fuel (15/04/2022)

Electrochaea’s Biocat was recently ETV verified. The technology converts carbon dioxide into gas to be used for heating or in the natural gas power grid. Electrochea had two goals going into ETV: to gain credibility with local public utilities and to scale-up their technology and ETV was the perfect fit for them.

Mixergy limited obtains an ETV verification for a domestic hot water tank (16/11/2017)

Mixergy tank is a hot water tank by Mixergy Limited that uses a novel inlet diffuser and angled heating element scheme to increase the utilisation of stored water within a domestic hot water tank.

Ultraaqua UV Disinfection systems: A new verification in the area of Water Treatment & Monitoring (16/11/2017)

Ultraaqua ACN series UV Disinfection systems by the Danish Company ULTRAAQUA is a UV system designed to protect farmed fish from waterborne diseases transmitted by inlet water.

An innovative PV module safety product verified under EU-ETV (16/11/2017)

PVStop by Solar Developments Pty Ltd, verified by the UK Verification Body BRE Global in the area of ‘Energy Technologies’, is a black sprayable/rollable/brushable water-based polymer.

New verifications issued for four bio-based compounds (16/11/2017)

Four bio-based compounds developed by FuturaMat (AU-LXX-06, BioFibra® BF-LED-10, BioMine® BM-LMI-03, and PolyFibra® PF-PEF-04) have been verified by the French Verification Body, RESCOLL.

EU ETV Pilot Programme: three years of supporting innovation (04/01/2017)

The EU Environmental Technology Verification (ETV) Pilot Programme became operational in 2013 under the Eco-Innovation Action Plan as a new tool to help innovative environmental technologies reach the market. The testing-phase ended in December 2016 and will be evaluated in 2017 with the aim of drawing conclusions on the best way forward.

ISO 14034: verified once, recognised everywhere (04/01/2017)

New environmental technologies and products will play a key role in boosting European competitiveness and in enabling the EU to take on a leading role as the world transitions to clean energy. However, such technologies can face considerable market barriers as they are innovations which, by definition, do not yet possess a successful track record.

The 27th edition of the leading general trade show on the environment, Pollutec, took place from 29 November to 2 December in Lyon, France. The event brought together all industry sectors of the environment and gathered around 2500 exhibitors.

RINA Services hosted a successful technical training for Spanish SMEs (05/01/2017)

For small and medium-sized Spanish enterprises interested in the Environmental Technology Verification process, RINA Services and Vertech Group organised a technical training course which took place on 18 November in Madrid, Spain.

ETA-Danmark: completing re-accreditation and finalising a Verification Statement (05/01/2017)

The Danish Verification Body ETA-Danmark is pleased to inform that it has successfully completed the re-accreditation process with the Danish accreditation board (DANAK) based on ISO 17020 for the EU ETV General Verification Protocol (GVP).

ETV: accelerator of SME market penetration (24/10/2016)

To ensure sustainable growth, the European economy has to move from a linear towards a circular economic model where resources are used in a more sustainable way. Eco-innovations will play a vital role in meeting future resource demands whilst minimising the environmental impacts of economic activity. Accelerating the acceptance and uptake of eco-innovations is important both for environmental objectives and for the EU agenda on jobs and growth.

Official delivery of ETV Statements of Verification (24/10/2016)

Since May 2015, 12 new companies have gained the ETV verification for their innovations. To celebrate their achievements, a special event will be organised for the delivery of the new Statements of Verification on 26 October at the 20th European Forum on Eco-innovation in Tallinn, Estonia.

Following the successful participation at Pollutec 2014, ETV will once again be present at this year’s exhibition, taking place from 29 November to 2 December in Lyon, France. A European Commission representative of the ETV pilot scheme together with the French Verification Body RESCOLL will attend the event to raise awareness of the EU-ETV scheme.

BioFibra® BF-LHE-01 by FuturaMat is a bio-based compound, composed of biomass products (e.g. wood meal) and biopolymers (recycled PLA) that are combined with additives and plasticisers to functionalise vegetable fibres to improve compatibility between the vegetable fibre and the polymer.

Recently verified technology - EWA Fermenter (24/10/2016)

EWA Fermenter by AGRO-EKO Ltd. is an easily portable device intended for the processing of a wide range of biodegradable waste, including sewage sludge and animal products. The fermenter uses controlled aerobic thermophilic fermentation within a closed non-outflow space (container) with a volume of 36m3.

Recently verified technology - WETNET (24/10/2016)

WETNET by Ingegnerie Toscane srl is an innovative low-cost flow-metering technology and control system that enables early detection of leakages and abnormal operational conditions in pressurised water distribution grids. It allows water companies to control distribution networks in detail, cutting down energy costs and emissions and making better use of water resources.

Polish companies to benefit from new ETV funding scheme (24/10/2016)

Despite growing interest towards ETV among Polish environmental technology manufacturers, verification costs sometimes pose a barrier to benefitting from this market tool. In response, the Polish Ministry of the Environment and the National Fund of Environmental Protection and Water Management (NFEP&WM) joined efforts to design an ETV-dedicated funding scheme, to be launched in early 2017.

New Verification Body in Poland: IETU (24/10/2016)

A new Verification Body established at the Institute for Ecology of Industrial Areas (IETU) in Katowice has been accredited in July 2016 to verify water technologies, becoming the fourth Polish ETV Verification Body. Poland now offers verification opportunities in all technology areas covered by the EU-ETV pilot scheme.

ITP: helping SMEs reach new markets (24/10/2016)

As the first Polish Verification Body, the Institute of Technology and Life Sciences (ITP) has witnessed first-hand the evolution of the ETV scheme in Poland. Cooperating with a team of highly qualified experts, including the Polish Society of Energy and a network of Polish testing bodies, ITP verifies technologies in two areas: ‘Materials, Waste and Resources’ and ‘Energy Technologies’.

ETV: Strengthening the water economy in the EU (25/07/2016)

Water is essential, not only for consumption but also for the production of goods and services, as it impacts all ecosystems. Industries that produce metals, wood and paper products, chemicals and energy all involve use of water in fabricating, processing, washing, diluting, cooling or transporting a product and for sanitation needs. Water ecosystems are vital assets in our societies and economies and they play a key role in European productivity and security.

Recently verified technology in the water industry includes Vertical centrifugal flow regulator by Danish based company Mosbaek (25/07/2016)

Mosbaek offers products related to flow control in sewage systems in order to ensure optimum construction, operating and maintenance costs for the user. The founder of the company was the first to invent a “water break” or “flow regulator” to allow sewage systems to limit passing water flow. The ETV verified technology is the vertical centrifugal flow regulator, CEV (Centrifugal Vertical), designed to regulate the flow of storm water during extreme rainfall events.

First French verification completed in the area of ‘materials, waste, and resources’ (15/07/2016)

FuturaMat is the first French company to have its performance claims verified under the ETV pilot scheme in the area of ‘materials, waste, and resources’. The verification was given to ‘BioFibra ® BF-LHE-01’, a beech fiber-based product derived completely from renewable resources.

ETV presented at the Industrial Technologies conference (25/07/2016)

On 23 June 2016, a European Commission representative of the ETV pilot programme attended a matchmaking event at the Industrial Technologies conference in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. This presented an opportunity to introduce ETV to business representatives in the manufacturing, process industry and technology industries across Europe.

ETV visits IFAT International Trade Fair (25/07/2016)

From 30 May to 31 May, a European Commission representative of the ETV pilot scheme and CEMC, the Czech Verification Body, participated in IFAT, the largest European trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management, organised in Munich, Germany.

ETV event on rainwater technologies in Copenhagen (25/07/2016)

On 31 August 2016, the Danish Verification Body ETA-Danmark A/S and DHI will organise an ETV event on rainwater technologies at the ETA-Denmark premises in Copenhagen.

CEMC: raising awareness of ETV in Czech Republic (25/07/2016)

The Czech Environment Management Center (CEMC), an association of Czech experts and businesses in the field of industrial ecology, was accredited as an ETV Verification Body in 2012 for the ‘Materials, Waste and Resources’ technology area and in 2015 for the area of ‘Water Treatment and Monitoring’.
