Parliament wraps up hearings for next commission.
MEPs questioned Bulgaria’s new candidate for European commission for three hours on Wednesday.
Kristalina Georgieva, World Bank vice-president, was nominated to the humanitarian affairs portfolio after Bulgaria’s first choice for the post, Rumiana Jeleva, abandoned her bid.
Jeleva was one of 26 commission candidates questioned in January. Her decision to withdraw delayed parliamentary approval of president Barroso’s new team.
The parliament’s vote on the whole commission is set for 9 February. If positive, the new "Barroso II" executive is expected to take office on 10 February.
