Q: How does the Commission include ethical issues in nanotechnology?
A: The Commission has addressed ethics in nanotechnology since 2002. Conferences, dialogues and research activities of technology platforms on ethical implications of nanotechnology have been supported by the Commission in FP6 and FP7. Debates on ethics and nanotechnology have also been initiated by the Commission at both MS level (Forum of EU 27 National Ethics Council) and EU level (European Group on Ethics' Opinion on ethics of nanomedicine to the President of the Commission and the President of the European Parliament). The Commission carries out ethical reviews of all research projects raising ethical issues.
