President Barroso in Malta

European Commission President Jose’ Manuel Durao Barroso paid a working visit to Malta on Friday 15 June 2007.

During his short stay, here Mr. Barroso called on H.E.Dr Edward Fenech Adami the President of Malta and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Anton Tabone. He also gave a speech in parliament following which the Prime Minister, Dr Lawrence Gonzi and the Leader of the Oppostition, Dr Alfred Sant responded.

    President Barroso also took time to stop for coffee at Caffe’ Cordina and had a brief tête-a-tête with a few representatives from NGOs. His programme proceeded with a tour of St. John’s Co-Cathedral and a recording for Bondiplus which will be aired this week.
