On Thursday, 26th May, the EDIC Central Region organised an EU Funding Capacity building workshop in order to encourage local councils to participate in EU funding programmes. The event was attended by Mayors, Executive Secretaries and Councillors representing various localities.

On Wednesday 25 May, the European Commission proposed an update of EU audiovisual rules to create a fairer environment for all players, promote European films, protect children and tackle hate speech better. This proposal also reflects a new approach to online platforms, addressing challenges in different areas.
The European Union’s efforts to ensure clean and healthy bathing water began forty years ago when the first Bathing Water Directive was issued. The annual bathing water report published on 25 May proves the value of the legislation and the years of investment in waste water infrastructure and other pollution reduction measures. It shows that bathing water quality has improved continuously over time leading to 96 % of monitored bathing sites in the EU meeting the minimum standards for water quality in 2015.
The Technical Assistance and Information Exchange Instrument (TAIEX) is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year. To mark this event, the European Commission is organising a series of seminars in five Member States (Lithuania, Poland, Slovakia, Malta and Croatia) to gather current beneficiaries from the enlargement and neighbourhood countries as well as Member State officials who have been the beneficiaries of TAIEX assistance in the pre-accession period.
