International Jazz Day
This is the very first year when the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) organises the World Jazz Day on 30 April. In Paris, Herbie Hancock, UNESCO’s Goodwill Ambassador will hold a concert in the UNESCO headquarters.
The Hungarian celebration of the International Jazz Day will be helped by a renowned Hungarian jazz concert by Ars Omnis Cultural Association and Subjective Values Foundation. The concert is supported by the Hungarian UN Society and by the Hungarian National Commission for UNESCO. The representatives of the two organisations will participate in a one-hour roundtable discussion to talk about cultural diplomacy and the rule music can play in strengthening contacts between nations. To the roundtable will join a representative of the Hungarian Jazz Federation and Mr Kálmán Oláh, an internationally renamed Hungarian jazz musician who will give an insight into the Hungarian interpretation of jazz music.
