Who may borrow from the Central Library?
The Library only meets requests for loans submitted by recognised libraries and documentation services.
Does the Central Library lend material to individuals?
The Central Library does not lend any material to individuals directly. Individuals who wish to borrow or use Central Library material outside the Library building should contact their institution's library or public library to arrange the loan of the material on their behalf.

How can an institution's library or a public library send requests?
The Central Library accepts requests sent via e-mail to the following address:
biblio-Ill@ec.europa.eu.
What materials does the Central Library loan?
The Library lends most of the books in its collections, except for those published in the current year. Periodicals cannot be loaned. However the Library can supply photocopies of articles from periodicals, subject to copyright legislation. The interlibrary loans service gives priority to requests for EU publications.
Does the Central Library of the European Commission charge for lending?
The European Commission Central Library only accepts payment from institution's library or public library with IFLA Vouchers.
There is no charge for loans to the European Documentation Service.
How long is the loan period?
Material lent to libraries generally has a maximum loan period of six weeks.
