This year, France is showcasing the crème de la crème from the past 10 years. Its “Label of Labels” is a special prize for 6 outstanding initiatives previously awarded the Language Label.
The winners are projects promoting world languages – from 6 categories: school education, higher education, vocational education and training, business, language institutes and media.
- Directorate for Primary Education (DEP) - Papeete (Tahiti) – Combating school failure and illiteracy through teaching of declamatory art, "Orero in primary school" (2010): discovery and recognition of the value of Polynesian languages and cultures, prevention of illiteracy, and the improvement of language skills and tolerance
- Ecole des Mines de Nantes (National School of Mining Engineering) – "Parlez-vous chinois?" (2010), an innovative method for teaching Chinese to beginners in higher education
- Supacast S.A.R.L – "Lingueo" (2008), an online learning platform, offering opportunities to learn a large variety of languages
- TV5 Monde – "7 jours sur la planète" (2006), a weekly TV-programme, good for learning the kind of French vocabulary used in televised news reports
CNED et Institut du monde arabe – "Marahil : reading and writing in the Arabic world” (2008). Marahil, meaning "steps" in Arabic, shows the different kinds of writing that can be found in modern Arab cities in Morocco, Lebanon, and Egypt
CFA "les 13 vents" – "Welcome to Tulle: Vocational English with native speakers" (2006). The project looks at language learning for a career in the catering industry
The ceremony is taking place at Expolanguesin Paris, a yearly fair for language professionals and anyone with an interest in languages.
