Conference on Language Industry in the EU, 27 November 2009, Brussels

The Directorate-General for Translation is organising a conference in Brussels to present the results of the study on the size of the language industry in the European Union that it has commissioned.

The study report gives a picture of the various activities involved in a dynamic industry with a high growth and innovation potential, such as translation and interpreting, localising and globalising, subtitling and dubbing, language teaching and other. Among other findings the study points to the great interest of business operators in research carried out in this field, as well as to the urgent need to improve reporting methods on the activities involved.
