Start of a civil society platform in European language policy
The new civil society platform to promote multilingualism for intercultural dialogue held its first meeting in Brussels on 23th October.
The group elected Uwe Mohr as its chair and coordinator. Uwe Mohr is the Director of the Language Department of the Goethe Institut Brüssel, a member of the European Union National Institutes for Culture (EUNIC).
Uwe Mohr will be assisted by a steering group made up of the co-chairs of the four thematic working groups: Cor van der Meer for education, Miguel Angel Martín Ramos and Davyth Hicks for linguistic diversity and social inclusion, Miriam Diocaretz, Peter Bergsma and Martin de Haan for translation and terminology and Davyth Hicks for language planning. A virtual platform will provide information about the work of the forum and offer possibilities for contributions from the public.
