Studying, working or volunteering abroad can be quite a challenge without good language skills. Conversely, spending periods abroad (mobility) is essential for learning, improving or simply practising foreign languages.
The European Commission has been supporting moblity actions for several years and has recently adopted a Green Paper entitled "Promoting the learning mobility of young people"
. The purpose of the Green Paper is to open up a debate with stakeholders and the public at large on how to boost mobility opportunities. The public consultation is open until 15 December 2009 and covers questions such as: How to convince more young people to go abroad for learning? What are the obstacles? How can public and private players join forces to encourage learning mobility?
