Drug prevention and information
I) Latest developmentsWithin the framework of the Drug Prevention and Information Programme the Commission has launched the Call for Proposals - Operating Grants 2010.
It is aimed at supporting organisations - such as non-profit organisations, voluntary associations, foundations, NGOs or similar bodies, active in the field of Drug Prevention and Information for their activities in their financial year 2010. All applications need to be submitted electronically using on-line PRIAMOS system. For further information please refer to the call for proposals in the right-hand menu. Building European partnerships in the field of drugs is the aim of the Drug Prevention and Information Programme. The Commission encourages the exchange of information on any issue related to your project. If you want to share information or find partners in other EU countries register now on the Civil Society Discussion Forum on Drugs Policy. II) General contextThis programme builds on the EU’s Drugs Strategy and Action plans, the ultimate aim of which is to significantly reduce the social harm and health damage caused by the use of, and trade in, illicit drugs. The Programme supports projects and activities associated with the following specific objectives:
The target groups of the programme's activities are all those who may be affected by the consequences of drug use, including: young people, pregnant women, vulnerable groups and problematic neighbourhoods. Other target groups are, inter alia, teachers and educational staff, parents, social workers, local and national authorities, medical and paramedical staff, judicial staff, law enforcement and penitentiary authorities, NGOs, trade unions and religious communities.
