European Data Protection Supervisor
Peter Hustinx has been reappointed as European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) for a second term of office and Giovanni Buttarelli was appointed Assistant Supervisor for the same five-year term, as of January 2009. Their mission is to make sure that the fundamental right to protection of personal data is respected by the EU institutions and bodies.
