EU-funded projects on violence against women
On 20 May 2014, DG Justice organised a meeting for promoters of projects on violence against women funded through the Progress and Daphne programmes.
43 participants from national governments and NGOs attended the meeting. The which aim was to improve the knowledge about the projects and the promoters, and to make the projects contribute more effectively to the implementation of our policies.
The morning focused on project management and financial aspects, as well as on the EU framework on violence against women and policies to tackle the issue, and the recent Fundamental Rights Agency (FRA) EU-wide survey on the phenomenon. In the afternoon, presentations were made by the UK Home Office and Terre des Femmes (Germany) on projects tackling female genital mutilation (FGM), by the Polish Chancellery of the Prime Minister and Tei of Crete (Greece) on projects on sexual violence, and the French Service des droits des femmes et de l'égalité entre les femmes et les hommes and Movisie (The Netherlands) on projects on domestic violence.
