Diversity Days are high-profile events targeting the general public and media which throw the spotlight on issues of equality and diversity, provide information on anti-discrimination law, show what Europe is doing to protect its inhabitants and encourage people to challenge their own attitudes and prejudices. They are organised in collaboration with national ministries and stakeholders including non-governmental organisations, trade unions and equality bodies.
Activities include quizzes, music and dance performances, workshops, debates and sporting events. The Days also provide an opportunity for the public to meet organisations working in the field of anti-discrimination and learn more about their work.
Diversity Days were held in Cyprus, Luxembourg, Portugal and Sweden in 2009 and in Hungary, Metz in France for the cross-border ‘Greater Region’ Diversity Day, as well as Greece and Poland during 2010.
